DESIGNER'S PERSPECTIVE
Inventive carpentry was key in dedicating this space to a child-friendly nook. As the parent of a young child and a home-based tuition teacher themselves, the owner requested areas that were comfortable to work in proximity to her child. We segregated the living room with a dedicated island fitted in with a work table and cabinet.
Custom furniture was designed while bearing in mind the naturally inquisitive and boisterous nature of children. Artfully covered with a whiteboard surface, the cabinets within the island go beyond storage as it becomes a canvas for children to go all out with their creativity and imagination. In other areas of the house, we went with handless drawers, sliding doors and soft closing hinges that added a layer of safety while fitting in with the clean modern look.
