Simple yet homely, the concept focuses on an open-plan interior with a seamless transition from a minimalistic living room and balcony, to a multifunctional kitchen. Behind the private doors lies a multi-purpose studio room, fitted with ample cabinetry fitted in for both business and leisure. The well-crafted nook makes it perfect as a work space in the day, with the room opening up to a quaint little lounge space perfect for movie nights or karaoke with guests.
High ceilings called for an accent chandelier, intended to add an element of focus in the living room. During the day, it adds a striking feature as it plays off the ample natural lighting in the indoor space, while in the evenings it transforms the area into a warm and elegant lounge perfect for winding down after a long day.
DESIGNER'S PERSPECTIVE
The homeowners’ request was straightforward; with a busy lifestyle, they wanted something minimalistic, easy to maintain, and still cosy enough for gatherings with friends and family.
There was quite a bit of space to play with, both horizontally and vertically. We wanted to highlight the outdoor space as a ‘zen’ area of sorts, making it a place for small gatherings or simply to relax and enjoy the view. A wooden deck installation complete with artificial grass was chosen as a versatile way and visually appealing way to elevate the area.
The lighting was planned strategically in the overall design. With the natural light radiating in the main living area, we decided to keep it simple in that space, choosing to incorporate a statement light fixture instead to ground the room together with a visual focus. The rest of the areas had plenty of ambient light, in line with the classy vibe.
