Rugged and homely, this rustic Scandinavian-style apartment exudes an understated sophistication with a spacious open concept. Bathed in earthy tones with splashes of colour, the area mixes textures and patterns that create a comfortable cottage feel within an HDB.
Textured white brick walls are lined intermittently alongside beige wooden feature walls that greatly enhance the living space as a cosy nook. Ceiling-track lights add a warm and cosy ambience to the space and bring connectivity to the space, starting from the foyer and leading all the way through the open concept livi.g area to the kitchen at the back of the communal area.
Jazzed up in the owner’s lucky shade of blue, the kitchen was opened to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the space. Paired with black countertops and matte-finished cabinets, the area stands out with an ultra-bold yet polished look that adds to the aesthetic.
DESIGNER'S PERSPECTIVE
Planning out a small space can be slightly challenging, however, as this was the owner’s second home renovation project with us, it was relatively easy navigating the design direction and focus of the area.
To maximise functionality, we played around with the layout—breaking down some walls to open the area up, while sectioning out others for a more cosy and intimate feel. The living room formed the heart of the home as a casual area for relaxing or entertaining guests, uniting effortlessly with the kitchen through the dining area, only separated by a short wall that creates a subtle distinction within the rooms. Beyond closed doors lies a master bedroom, fitted with an en-suite walk-in wardrobe that adds a luxurious touch to the home. We also allocated a cosy home office in the other room, enclosed within glass doors to allow for visibility without barriers.
